Evo Morales Ayma of the MAS (Movement Towards Socialism) party secured an unparalleled 54% percent result in the December 18th Bolivian presidential elections. Attracting world attention as the first indigenous president of Bolivia in 500 years. Morales heralded this opportunity as a new era for Bolivia’s impoverished indigenous majority.
