On Sept. 18, 2006, Cpl. Scott Collen, of the Princes Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, was seriously injured in a suicide bombing attack while on a routine patrol inside the Panjewi district of Afghanistan. Cpl. Collen was rushed to Role 3, field hospital suffering massive injuries to his legs and chest. Doctors immediately started working on his legs overlooking a chest wound, due to this error Cpl. Collen flat lined from a collapsed lung for approximately one minute. Before returning back to Canada Cpl. Collen was flown to the military Hospital in Lunsdthal germany for more surgery. After two days he was back in Winnipeg, Canada, where he would begin recovery at the Health Sciences Center. Cpl. Collen received a heroes welcome upon arriving home in Minnedosa, the streets were lined with hundreds of people who came to greet him as he was drivien to the local hospital. Cpl. Collen is now healing at home with his wife and three kids. Cpl. Collen want sto return to Afghanistan in 2008.
